I’m Clocking K’s for R U OK?

This July, I’m joining K’s for R U OK? to stay connected, develop healthy habits and help to create a world where we're connected and protected from suicide.

Each week I'll be consistent in my clocking as I walk (run, wheel or ride) to help start more life-changing conversations.

Walking saved my mental health!

In 2020, when the world temporarily closed down and went quiet, and we were all shuttered away from our family and friends, I was also dealing with the end of my marriage. To say it was a hard time is an understatement! 
No dinner and wine with friends to commiserate, noone to hug me while I cried, no movies or clubs or concerts to lift my mood. So I started walking, every day, around my neighbourhood, on the beach, out into the countryside. And it literally saved my mind! 
Walking gave me something to look forward to each day, kept me connected to my body and to nature, and all that extra oxygen with less traffic around was wonderful to inhale deeply. Plus I was still working full time! Driving an hour each way 3-4 days a week in an ‘essential service’ was not great for my body. Getting up & walking before work, or heading out after getting home was energising and revitalising for my mind, body and soul. 
It’s a simple, inexpensive, portable and effective fitness option that I’m jumping back into for the month of July to support mental health awareness and initiatives. Come and join me or throw me a donation today 🙏🤸🏼🚶🏼‍♀️💃🏻
