September Steps

Matt & I are running more this September to raise awareness and to help create a world where we're connected and protected from suicide.

We will be clocking 9km each day in September 2025 (63km a week) to raise awareness of the fact that we lose 9 Australians every day to this tragic illness.

Lets talk about this:

8.6 Australians die every day by suicide. That’s more than double the road toll (ABS, 2022).

75% of those who take their own life are male (ABS, 2022).

An unknown number of Australians attempt suicide every year, with some estimates suggesting this figure may be over 65,000 (Slade et al, 2009).

Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians between the ages of 15 and 44 (AIHW, 2022a).

Each week I'll be consistent as I walk (run, walk or ride 63km) to help start more life-changing conversations.

By donating to the page you are helping R U OK? provide free, essential resources to schools, workplaces, families, and communities across Australia. Giving them the tools and confidence to spot the signs and to start a conversation that could change the life of someone who's struggling.

By inspiring people to take the time to ask “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.

Lets walk and talk together
