Iām Clocking Kās for R U OK?
This October, Iām joining Kās for R U OK? to stay connected, develop healthy habits and help to create a world where we're connected and protected from suicide.
Each week I'll be consistent in my clocking as I walk (run, wheel or ride) to help start more life-changing conversations.Ā
By donating to my page you are helping R U OK? provide free, essential resources to schools, workplaces, families, and communities across Australia. Giving them the tools and confidence to spot the signs and to start a conversation that could change the life of someone who's struggling. And you'll be putting a big smile on my face.
Thank you so much.
By inspiring people to take the time to ask āAre you OK?ā and listen, we can help people struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.

š¬ Dag 4: LGBTQ+ Mental Health š³ļøāš
Monday 13th OctBeing yourself shouldnāt come at the cost of your mental health.
Today, Iām focusing on theĀ LGBTQ+ communityĀ ā a group that shows incredible strength, creativity, and courage, yet faces some of the highest mental health risks due to stigma, discrimination, and lack of support.
Mental health struggles in LGBTQ+ individuals donāt happen because of who they are ā they happen because of how society treats them.
š Did you know:Ā
41.9% of LGBTQ people had considered attempting suicide in the previous 12 months.
74% had considered attempting suicide at some point in their life.
39.5% reported experiencing social exclusion.
34% verbal abuse.
11.8% sexual assault.
3.6% harassment such as being spat at or offensive gestures.
3.9% attacked or assaulted with a weapon due to the sexual orientation or gender identity.
Many LGBTQ+ people feel unsafe seeking help due to fear of judgment or lack of inclusive services.
I stand with the LGBTQ+ community in demanding better.Ā Better understanding. Better access to care. Better futures.
No one should have to hide who they are to feel safe. No one should be shamed for existing.
Letās listen, learn, support, and be the allies we claim to be ā not just in words, but in action. Ask R U Okšš¤š³ļøāš

š¬ Day 3: Women & Mental Health š©·
Sunday 12th OctāSheās just being emotionalā is not a diagnosis.
Today, Iām focusing on the mental health ofĀ womenĀ ā because while women are often the carers, the listeners, the glue holding everything together, theyāre alsoĀ deeplyĀ affected by mental health challenges, often in silence.
From hormonal changes to societal pressures, from unpaid caregiving to gender-based violence, women face a unique mental load thatās frequently misunderstood or dismissed.
š Did you know:
- Around 1 in 6 women experienceĀ depressionĀ in their lifetime. 1 in 3 experienceĀ anxiety. These issues disproportionately impact women at various ages.
- Mental health problems relating to fertility, childbearing or parenting are a common burden. Around 1 in 5 mothers experiencesĀ post-natal depression, and experiences such as ante-natal depression and post-partum psychosis are not uncommon. For other women, pressure around having children or inability to conceive can cause distress.
- Family, domestic and sexual violenceĀ are significantly more likely to be perpetrated against women, with 1 in 3 women experience violence in their lifetime. This has significant impacts for safety,Ā mental health and wellbeing.
- Some mental health disorders such asĀ Post Traumatic Stress DisorderĀ are more than twice as likely to be experienced by women.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are hospitalized for self-harm at twice the rate of non-Aboriginal women.
- Ā Carers ā around two-thirds of whom are female ā have been shown to have the lowest collective wellbeing score of any group, with more than half of all carers found to have moderate depression.
Today, I want to honor the strength it takes for women to keep going, but also highlight the urgent need for support, space, and proper care.
Because women shouldnāt have to break to be heard. š©· Ask R U OKšš¤

š¬ Day 2: Youth & Childrenās Mental Health š
Saturday 11th Octš¬ Day 2:Ā Youth & Childrenās Mental HealthĀ š
āJust a phaseā is not an excuse to look the other way.
Today, Iām turning the spotlight towardĀ children and young peopleĀ ā because mental health doesnāt wait until adulthood. It can start early, and for many of us, it does.
Too often, we dismiss signs of mental struggle in young people as moodiness, attention-seeking, or ājust part of growing up.ā But for so many kids, itās far more serious ā and without the right support, it can shape their entire future.
š Did you know:
- 3/4 of all mental health problems first appear in people under 24.
- 1 in 4 young Australians 16-24 years will experience mental health problems in any given yearā¢
- Ā 5.6% of Australian children have moderate to severe mental health problems.Ā
- Ā 10.9% of Australian adolescents have deliberately injured themselves and 2.4% attempt suicide each year.Ā
Many young people face overwhelming pressures ā from school, social media, bullying, family breakdown, identity struggles, and more ā but donāt know where to turn.
Why is kids' mental health importantĀ
Having good mental healthĀ is key to healthy child developmentĀ and wellbeing.
Kids need good mental health so they can:
- effectively deal with challenges,
- adapt to change, express and regulate their emotions, feel good about themselves,
- build healthy relationships with others and enjoy life
We need to listen harder. We need to believe them when they say theyāre not okay. And we need to create environments where it's safe for them to open up, without fear, shame, or judgment.
This month, Iām raising awareness and funds so more young people can get the help they need ā early, properly, and without stigma.
Letās show them thatĀ their feelings are real, and that help is always within reach. šš¤

š¬ Day 1: Men & Mental Health š
Friday 10th OctāStrongā doesnāt mean āsilent.ā
Today, I'm shining a light onĀ menās mental healthĀ ā a topic that is too often buried under the weight of outdated expectations.
Men are statistically less likely to reach out for help, less likely to be diagnosed, and more likely to die by suicide. This isnāt because they suffer less ā itās often because they feel they canāt speak up.
Whether itās the pressure to be the ārock,ā the āprovider,ā or the one who ājust gets on with it,ā too many men are taught from a young age to bottle things up. That silence can be heavy ā even deadly.
š Did you know:
- On average- In Australia 9 people commit suicide everyday, 7 of which are men.
- Ā 26% of men have admitted to delaying seeing their GP for help when theyāve needed it.
- 43% of men will struggle with anxiety and depression at some stage in their lives.
This week, I want to break that silence.
Letās remind the men in our lives ā fathers, brothers, partners, friends, colleagues ā that vulnerability is not weakness. Speaking up is not shameful. Asking for help is not failure. š
If we can create a world where men feel safe to talk, to cry, and to heal ā we can save lives.

Mental Health Day 2025
Friday 10th Oct Ā Mental health touches all of us ā quietly, powerfully, and often invisibly. But behind the statistics are real people, real lives, and unique stories. As part of my mission to raise awareness and funds for mental health support, Iāve chosen to take a closer look at how mental health impacts specific groups in our society ā because no one experience is the same, and no one should feel alone in their struggle. For the next 4 days, Iāll be shining a light on these groups:
1ļøā£ Men
2ļøā£ Youth & Children
3ļøā£ Women
4ļøā£ The LGBTQ+ Community
These groups are often deeply affected by mental health challenges, yet stigma, lack of access, or cultural pressures can keep their stories in the shadows. I want to change that ā even if it's just a little.
By sharing facts and statistics, I hope to create a space where we can all learn, reflect, and stand together in compassion. Whether youāve lived these experiences or are simply here to learn and support, your presence matters.
Together, letās lift the silence and be part of the change.Ā
