I’m clocking K’s for R U OK?

This July, I’m making a commitment to run every day and clock my K’s for R U OK?

I’m taking on the K’s for R U OK? challenge to stay connected, develop good habits, and create a world where we're connected and protected from suicide.

Your support helps R U OK? to provide essential free resources to schools, workplaces, families, and communities across Australia, and empower them to start a conversation that could change the life of someone who's struggling.

Please support my efforts by donating, and together let's get everyone asking R U OK? starting conversations and changing lives!

My Updates

The person behind the mask.

Sunday 30th May
Recently, a colleague/friend came into the tea room looking for the junior doctors for a “mental health wellbeing check”. I asked why they never checked in on my mental health? Their response was “I don’t need to, your always smiling”.

Well I won’t say when but not too long ago I took a serious attempt on my life. By pure luck, divine intervention or God I was found and hospitalised for two weeks.

I am a health professional-in fact I counsel and support woman’s mental health on a daily basis. People describe me as a confident, vibrant, loud, passionate, loving individual; but, my self belief was SHAME. Shame that  because I was a health professional I couldn’t speak out and say to my loved ones, friends and colleagues “I’m not ok”.

It’s been a hard, agonising road to look within and admit how I was really feeling at the time. I’m so much better and stronger for it now, with the help of a particular few who carried me when I couldn’t move forward.

Ironically, in my recovery  I’ve taken up running again (a past time fav) so this challenge is so fitting and I’d be grateful for your support.

My advice to all is to be aware of the person behind the mask when you ask “R U Ok?” 😍
