Break the stigma. Change the stats!

7 men will die today. 44 men will loose their battle to mental health this week. That’s 44 sons. 44 brothers. 44 husbands. 44 fathers. One of which, is my sons father. One of which, is my sons grandfather. It won’t be on the news. But it will leave 44 families broken. 44 too many.  

As a nation we need to break the stigma. Our next generation should be taught it’s ok to speak up. It’s brave to speak up. 

I will be educating our son early. Not only is it acceptable to tell him, but it’s important to do so. Talking about suicide actually lowers the risk. 

Check in with your mates, check in with yourself, encourage positive communication around mental health, consider exploring  a mental health plan, tell your family you care about them and give them a safe space to be vulnerable. 

Men, you matter.  Your mental health matters, please stay ❤️
