I’m Clocking K’s for R U OK?

Seven people I know have died by suicide (three this year alone).  One was 18, one was female, five in their 30s - 50s & had children.  Sadly each year over 65,000 Australians make a suicide attempt & far too many of those are “successful”.   Each life lost has a devastating impact to those left behind, the family & friends.  The thoughts haunting “could we have done more? Would they still be alive today?” So…

This July, I’m joining K’s for R U OK? to stay connected, develop healthy habits and help to create a world where we're connected and protected from suicide.

Each week I'll be consistent in my clocking as I walk, (run, roll or ride) to help start more life-changing conversations.

By donating to my page you are helping R U OK? provide free, essential resources to schools, workplaces, families, and communities across Australia. Giving them the tools and confidence to spot the signs and to start a conversation that could change the life of someone who's struggling. And you'll be putting a big smile on my face.

Thank you so much.

By inspiring people to take the time to ask “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.

Day 1 done

Saturday 1st Jul
My husband supported me by waiting in the car while I walked around Albert Park Lake.

I was cold (it was raining) but  I didn’t care I’m alive!    As the sun went down the  lake shimmered with reflections , the birds gave way to me as I pounded the pavement , there was a wedding party  taking photos.  I thought if I was their celebrant  I would have guided them into thinking about the timing of the event ie cooler weather & suggested a  shawl or jacket for the I do crew .

Despite the disappointment after learning that the footpath around the lake isn’t 5km  (perhaps the gravel path is), it was a PB for me  4.83km in 54:15  (11:14 min/km ).
Helps to have a good playlist!
