We're Clocking K’s for R U OK?
This July, the Newham Walkers with Dogs are joining K’s for R U OK?
We're taking on the challenge to strengthen connections, develop good habits, start meaningful conversations and have some fun as a team.
Each week the group will be clocking the K's they walk to help start more life-changing conversations.
We’d love you to join our team!
The Newham and District Walking Group with Dogs have been exploring the walking trails of the Macedon Ranges and Hepburn Shire for many years. Each Tuesday morning, the group meet at 9am at a predetermined location and walk along bushland trails for 4km - 5km. Dogs are important members of the group and although it is not essential to bring a dog, an appreciation of our canine companions is a must!
Locations explored include Romsey, Lancefield, Malmsbury, Kyneton, Riddells Creek, Taradale and Gisborne. Typically members of the group bring a thermos for a cuppa after each walk, but occasionally visit a local cafe.
All routes include access to toilets at some point and the walkers often break into two groups at different paces to ensure no one is left behind.
Walking poles encouraged!
Register your interest via our website and we will pass on your details to the coordinator Fran who will be in touch!
Please note - our goal for this challenge is to raise awareness of the fantastic work undertaken by the R U OK? team and encourage participation in the walking and cycling groups at the Woodend Neighbourhood House. A financial donation to the K's for R U OK? campaign is entirely optional.
By inspiring people to take the time to ask “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.
