I’m Clocking K’s for R U OK?

This July, I’m joining K’s for R U OK? to stay connected, develop healthy habits and help to create a world where we're more connected and raise awareness around suicide and mental health.

Each week I'll be consistent in my clocking as I walk (run, wheel or ride) to help start more life-changing conversations.

By donating to my page you are helping R U OK? provide free, essential resources to schools, workplaces, families, and communities across Australia. Giving them the tools and confidence to spot the signs and to start a conversation that could change the life of someone who's struggling. This is something I hold closely to my heart and means a great deal to me, by donating you'll be putting a big smile on my face.

Thank you so much.

By inspiring people to take the time to ask “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.

23ks down

Friday 12th Jul
I knew I was pushing it when I chose 100km as my target, I thought oh that’s not that hard considering I do an okay amount on a sedentary day.

Instead of tracking  my “daily” steps and ks, I am only tracking the physical component of my days. I’m trying to go for a walk daily but here we are.  If I was to track my “daily” activity I would be over half way and at 58.55km but instead, less than half of that.

I’m 12 days in and 23km down. It has been a physical and mental challenge and so much more. I went from being a relatively fit person and  aside from my two Frenchies, the gym was my happy place. Over the past 8 months, anything that could happen has happened. I’ve lost the last two men in my life that have watched me grow and become the person I am today and the closest people I had to father figures. I have finally enrolled back in uni after deferring twice and I started a new job that is pushing me to show up everyday not only for myself but for the young people I care about. Over the past 8 months, I’ve had to grow, grieve, love, understand, support and grieve some more. Over the past 8 months, I’ve also had to be patient, kind and still put other people before myself. Over the past 8 months, I’ve learnt to see the good on even the worst days and appreciate the tiny, little things.

Since the 9th of March, I haven’t stepped foot back into the gym due to my anxiety and fear around the potential loss of strength and honestly due to the lack of physical muscle I can see now. Since March, I have come up with every possible excuse as to why I “can’t” go to the gym.

On the 8th of July, I stepped foot back into the gym. I considered going and strength training but instead I got onto the treadmill and listened to one of my tutorials so I could ensure I actually got some ks in and got that tiny bit closer to my target.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far on my journey and thank you to those who have held me up when I have barely been able to stand on my own two feet.

Please remember you aren’t alone, you are loved and there are people who care. 🩵
