I’m Clocking K’s for R U OK?

This July, I’m joining K’s for R U OK? to stay connected, develop healthy habits and help to create a world where we're connected and protected from suicide.

Each week I'll be consistent in my clocking as I walk, (run, roll or ride) to help start more life-changing conversations.

By donating to my page you are helping R U OK? provide free, essential resources to schools, workplaces, families, and communities across Australia. Giving them the tools and confidence to spot the signs and to start a conversation that could change the life of someone who's struggling. And you'll be putting a big smile on my face.

Thank you so much.

By inspiring people to take the time to ask “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.

Why? Why undertake the challenge?

Sunday 2nd Jul
I I saw the K’s for R U OK?July pop up in my feed and knew I’d jump on board.
Every birthday, ask mates to donate but this year I’ve thought, you know what, I’m making the monthlong commitment.
I’ve always been on a position where I know my support network is never far away. Whether that’s someone I can see daily, locally or that I need to connect through via phone or social media. Even a random text here and there to a mate about which album wins out of a 2 album choice. I like to connect in meaningful ways.
I like everyone, I’ve had my ups and downs and  celebrations and full deflations but I’ve always known I have a mate.
I am aware I am a focal point to peers and a mentor.
I hope, that by undertaking this challenge, I can be the voice of those who may be silent.
Maybe my social media posts will prompt someone to reach out.
I do know, I’ve already created some conversations and questions . Even those that have liked my profile posts, they may not be my closest peers but I’m connecting.
Over the previous years, I’ve had knee issues which resulted in surgery. I’ve also had ear surgery and more to come soon,. Both injuries took away my release outlets, that being live music and bodyboarding / ocean recreation. It was not great but I could still celebrate that despite the surgeries, I knew I would start to be a more active Dad with my daughter. I could start to re-find the healthier version of myself that I’d covered up with a few extra kilo’s.
I look forward to getting out there and knocking over my100km goal.
I look forward to conversations with peers, strangers along the way and conversations peers will have behind closed doors with their families and friends.
Thanks for reading.
Good luck with your journey
